Road Painting at Great Limber

Back to our website: Village Stores

Lincs County Council repainted the road in front of our Limber shop yesterday. Jayne said "But aren't you going to fill in the pot holes first?" "That's not our department - we just paint lines!" It's a funny old world....

New CCTV at Keelby

Back to our website: Village Stores

Our old CCTV & video recorder at Keelby broke down, so we had to get a new one (it's a condition of our alcohol licence). The new recorder uses a computer hard disc rather than VHS tapes - and it includes a 4-way switcher for our cameras (we used to have a separate box to do that). The new kit is roughly 1/10th the size of the old one - it's amazing how tech has progressed!

Technical Stuff

Back to our website: Village Stores

We've got challenges of a technical nature this week - we use an old Windows XP computer for admin & to access the web, but from 8th April Microsoft will no-longer send security updates. Time to move to a Windows 7 machine - quite a task for us technophobes! A similar but unrelated thing is happening with cigarettes - from April 2015 small UK shops must hide their displays. We've opted to have our display equipment removed and to hide our cigs under the counter. All this, & the end of the tax year too!

We're trying out a new dairy

Back to our website: Village Stores

We have found a new dairy, and have decided to give them a go. They are called DairyLincs, and they are based in Grimsby. They supply all kinds of milk - they get their supplies from Boroughbridge in Yorkshire - a very pretty part of the world. We think it's important to source British milk, from as close to home as we can - we hope everyone approves!
