Work Continues Towards Mace

Back to our website: Village Stores

We are now on a tight schedule to get everything ready for August 15th. at Keelby. The electricians have confirmed they can attend on that day, the finance is in place and we now have a second broadband connection. Last Wednesday 2 folks from Mace came to sort out newspaper supplies, and next Tuesday they're back to plan our initial stock order, and to talk about stock layouts in the re-arranged shop. And we have all given our measurements for Mace shirts etc. Full speed ahead!

Mace at Keelby - less than 3 weeks to go!

Back to our website: Village Stores

We are all getting excited about rebranding the Keelby shop as Mace. It's our chance to say "Thank you" to the village, for all the support over the years!

A Gala Weekend

Back to our website: Village Stores

Keelby's summer gala took place on Saturday July 16th, and was used to raise funds for Help For Heroes. We donated some money and raffle prizes, and sold raffle tickets in the shop. The day turned out wet - one of the few wet Saturdays we've had since March! Despite that the crowds came out, and much fun was had.

Limber's gala was next day. At the moment (Saturday pm) the weather seems to be brightening - so fingers crossed. Jayne has a stall at the Limber gala - she is selling hand-made necklace and ear rings.

Euro millions Lottery Jackpot at Maximum

Back to our website: Village Stores

The Euro millions lottery has rolled over several times, and the jackpot now stands at a maximum 185 million euros (roughly £166 million). The jackpot will remain at this figure until it is won. The accumulated fund which would otherwise take the jackpot above £166m is being split amongst the "second prize" winners - on Friday 8th July 2011 two tickets in the UK won £3.3m each, because of this rule. Best of luck to everyone!

Lincolnshire Stuffed Chine

Back to our website: Village Stores

A lady said she liked our sliced Lincolnshire stuffed chine, but asked if we could supply it as a joint rather than pre-sliced. Our butchers were delighted to help, but when the delivery came a mix-up meant they sent a wonderful fore-rib of beef instead. They offered to swap next day, so we put the beef on the shelf. A second lady saw it, liked it a lot, and bought it there and then. When the chine came next day a third customer was admiring it, but we said it was already ordered. The third lady said she might make her own chine joint - but could we supply her with a washing-up bowl full of fresh parsley? Of course, we can - thanks to our vegetable suppliers!
